Maintenance model: Italian Riello GW type burner
Symptom: After starting up, the burner does not start. Failure analysis:
1. The burner has no power supply
2. The temperature control limit switch on the burner electric cabinet is open
3. The burner RIELLO 503 SE controller is locked or the controller fuse is disconnected or the controller is damaged
4. The burner motor or the starting capacitor of the motor is damaged
5. The photosensitive tube of the burner is short-circuited or light leaks in the furnace or a simulated flame appears
6. The burner oil pump is stuck
Maintenance process:
1. Use a multimeter to AC 250 volts, measure the BM 1 (L) and 2 (N) feet of the burner terminal, the multimeter shows 220 volts, which is normal. (can also be measured with electric pen)
2. Use a multimeter with resistance ×10 to measure pins BM 3 and 5 of the burner terminal, and the connection of the limit temperature control switch is normal.
3. Use AC 220 volts to test the motor separately, and the motor starts normally. Since the motor can start normally, it means that the oil pump is not stuck.
4. Measure the photosensitive tube with a multimeter resistance × 1K. Normally, the resistance value of the photosensitive tube should be greater than 20K when there is no light, and the resistance value when it is exposed to light should be less than or equal to 1K. The measurement result is 1K with or without light, indicating that the photosensitive tube is damaged and needs to be replaced.
5. Turn on the power and test the machine, the burner still cannot start normally, even the motor does not turn, but the 503SE controller has activated (to judge whether the controller is activated, just put your hand on the controller, if there is a slight vibration, it means that the controller has activated)
6. Because the motor does not turn, and the motor is tested separately, it is good, which means that there is a problem with the connecting wire that provides the power supply to the motor inside the burner, so where is the problem?
7. Pull out the 503 SE controller and check the connecting wires of the control motor power supply in the controller base. It turns out that the N wire of the control motor (connected to the 17 pin of the controller base) is not connected to the BM 2 (N) pin of the burner terminal, but the 15 pin of the controller base is connected to the BM 2 (N) pin of the burner terminal. Because the 15, 16, 17, and 18 pins of the controller base are connected with brass skins, and they are all N, how can it be unreasonable? At this time, use a wire to short-circuit pins 15 and 17, turn on the power and test the machine, the burner will start, and the motor will work. After normal, remove the copper skin for inspection, it turns out that the copper skin is corroded and cracked, causing the N line to be open and blocked. It was not found at that time because the crack was just pressed with a wire, which is generally not easy to find.
8. After the burner is started, if it does not ignite, the controller will give an alarm soon.
9. Use AC 220 volts to test the ignition transformer separately, and the sparks between the ignition rods can be observed from the fire viewing hole. This shows that the ignition transformer is good, but there is a problem with the power supply provided by the 503 SE controller to the ignition transformer, and the power supply of the ignition transformer is provided through the contacts inside the 503 SE controller. This analysis can determine that the 503 SE controller is faulty. Because there was no new controller at that time, I had to open the outer casing of the controller and carefully observe the contact that provided the power supply to the ignition transformer. Sure enough, the contacts were seriously blackened and the contact was poor. After lightly sanding with fine sandpaper, the burner started to ignite when the power was turned on for a test run, and the fire was working normally.
Summary: Multiple failures of one burner are very difficult for those who lack maintenance experience. I hope this real maintenance example will play a role in attracting jade.
